Journalists' Environmental Association of Tanzania (JET)

An NGO working in the fields of environment and sustainable development since February 26th, 1991

JET is a Non-Governmental Organization registered by the Registrar of Societies CAP 54, Registration number SO. 7266. Then after with the New Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002, Registration No. 00NGO/00007699.

It is an organization of professional communicators with members in mainstream media houses in Tanzania mainland and Unguja (Zanzibar) and Pemba.

Mission

JET is committed to promote good governance on environmental management for sustainable development in Tanzania through capacity building, advocacy, and networking.

Objectives

• Advocating for good governance in environmental management
• Enhancing the capacity of media stakeholders (journalists and editors) to monitor governance practices in environmental management
• Networking with like-minded organisations and other stakeholders
• Strengthening the organizational capacity to implement the association’s mandate
